SOMERSET has been put on alert to expect disruption today (Monday) caused by heavy rain.
We could be in for difficult driving conditions and some road closures, according to the Met Office.
In the worst case scenario, there could be flooding, train and bus delays or cancellations, power cuts and some communities cut off by flooding.
A large swathe of the county is subject to a yellow weather warning.
People are being told to expect travel disruption and flooding in some parts of the county.
The Met Office says:
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings;
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life;
- Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services;
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures;
- There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads;
- There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
The areas most likely to be affected in Somerset include Wells and Yeovil and areas east of those locations, while Chard, Taunton and Bridgwater are right on the edge of the warning.
