A SOMERSET group aiming to combat climate change and protect the environment is looking to secure premises of land for an eco-centre.
The community organisation behind the plan is gearing up for its first annual general meeting on August 18.
The Eco-Centre wants to improve environmental sustainability through education, green business support and a visitor centre to showcase excellence in sustainable living.
It is hoping to establish a network of people and organisations who want to do more to tackle climate change.
Steve Howell, chairman of The Eco-Centre, said: " I am excited to see the innovative project pick up pace.
"We have reached a crucial phase.
"We are seeking both members and directors to join our growing team and help to see our ambitions come to life.
"Anyone who lives or works in Somerset can be a member."
Anyone can join the AGM via Zoom on August 18 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm - for details contact info@ecocentresw.org or visit www.ecocentresw.org.
For a one-off lifetime £1 you can buy a share and enjoy members' rights.
Mr Howell added: "By joining us now, you can help make sure it’s a success, not only for Somerset but for the environment as well.
"Together we can help people to live and work more sustainably. More than ever, we need to work together to tackle climate change.”
The Eco-Centre will offer "practical advice and support" to the public and businesses towards sustaining the environment.
The visitor centre will enable people to discover more about sustainable products and technology and get practical tips for sustainable living.
A Green Business Hub will support enterprises developing sustainable products, technologies and services.
The Eco Learning Programme will provide educational and training resources for schools, students, workers and the general public.
