AN office block that used to house Debenhams backroom staff could become home for almost 200 people.
A planning application has been submitted for a change of use of Bedford House from offices to residential units.
The plans lodged with Somerset West and Taunton Council outline a potential 70-flat development.
The premises in Park Street comprise two blocks - one of seven storeys, the other four floors high.
Hundreds of staff used to work in the premises until Debenhams went into administration in January of this year.
If the applicant, Daejan (Taunton) Ltd is granted approval for the change of use, it could then produce more details plans.
Currently it says it hopes to create 35 one-bedroom flats for two people; 13 two-bedroom flats for three people; and 22 two-bedroom flats for four people.
