AFTER being coupled up from the very beginning, bookies have slashed the odds of a Jiberty split - so, with just over a week to go, might the pair have fallen at the final Love Island hurdle?
From the outset Liberty Poole had eyes only for Somerset water engineer Jake Cornish, described him as “a bit of me”and saying “You don’t know who else is coming in, so I thought I’d take my chance.”
However, during Mad Movies night last week, the islanders were played a clip of Jake questioning whether he was attracted to his girlfriend.
Liberty said: “For me that was my worst nightmare in a video.”
Tearfully confronting Jake about his comments, saying she had been “hurt” by what he had said. Jake replied, “You’re my girlfriend. I want to take you home to my family. You’re my future.”
Ever since though, a tension between the couple has remained.
In last night’s episode of the ITV 2 dating show there was friction between the two of them again, this time over the lack of time they are spending together.
Liberty said aspects of her feelings towards Jake “don’t sit right”.
“If he’s taking me for granted, he’s not the one for me,” she added.
The programme ended by teasing an upcoming heated discussion between the pair.
According to Ladbrokes latest odds, "Jakey" and "Libs", as they playfully refer to one another, could now be heading for singledom.
With the couple seemingly on the rocks the bookmaker has slashed the odds to just 5/4 for the duo split up before the end of the series with the odds of them winning the show lengthening to 12/1.
Spokesperson for Ladbrokes, Jessica O'Reilly, said: "Things aren't looking good for Jake and Liberty.
"It's now significantly more likely that the former front runners split up than win Love Island this year."
Love Island continues this evening on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
