POLICE are trying to trace a Good Samaritan who intervened after an elderly man was attacked.
The victim, who is in his seventies, needed hospital treatment for injuries he received in the incident.
The assault took place in Yeovil on Monday, July 26.
It occurred next to a bridge leading from the Coopers Mill pub to the car park of the Goldenstones Leisure Centre.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We want to speak to a man who stepped in to help the victim as we believe he may have information that could assist our inquiry."
The witness is described as white, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, around 6ft tall and dressed in sports kit with light brown hair. He was riding a pushbike.
