HESTERCOMBE Gardens need your help to uncover the identity of these men in the photograph.
The image is of gardeners on Hestercombe estate in 1914 and are issuing a public plea to identify some of the people in the photograph.
Hestercombe know the identity of 8 of the 17 people in the picture but are desperate to find out who the other nine are.
The Chief Executive for Hestercombe Gardens Trust, Philip White MBE, said
“It's quite easy to find out about the owners of an estate like this but actually to find out the social history and the stories of the people who worked here is often much more difficult.
"So we're really keen to find family photographs, journals, letter, postcards even and anything which helps fill in the gap about the staff who worked here.”
Philip White's own great-uncle is pictured in the image and ever since he has been trying to discover who all the other gardeners were in that photograph.
"It's in my blood," he says.
We need the people of Somerset to help identify the men in the photo, please get in touch with Hestercombe Gardens if you recognise anyone.
It would be brilliant to give the rest of these men names and see if we can piece together their lives.
