THE ground floor of a house near Taunton was badly damaged by fire yesterday (October 23).
Fire crews from Taunton and Wellington were sent to the property, in Rumwell, at just before 4pm.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson has now confirmed the incident has been dealt with - and no one injured.
"Crews made good and steady progress bringing the fire, which started accidentally in a utility room and spread to the conservatory of the two-storey house, under control using 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, a safety jet and small tools, before using a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the ground floor of smoke," they said.
"A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hotspots as crews made the utilities and scene safe."
The two affected rooms suffered 100% fire damage, they added, with the remainder of the ground floor sustaining 30% smoke damage.
"Two occupants were able to safely evacuate prior to our arrival and there were no casualties," the spokesperson said.
