Taunton Racecourse host their opening meeting of the season on Wednesday when the first of the six hurdle races on the card is due to go to post at 1.20pm

With 50 horses declared and a smallest field of six a good afternoon’s entertainment looks assured.

Leading trainers Paul Nicholls, Nigel Twistor-Davies, Donald Mc Cain (Jnr) and Kim Bailey are all represented while top jockeys Tom Scudamore, Bryony Frost and Daryl Jacob are all booked to ride.

The big race on the day is the Invest SouthWest Handicap Hurdle(Class 3)  at 2.30pm over two miles and 104 yards  which is worth over £6k to the winner. 

The two fancied horses in the race are likely to be See the Sea and Pillar of Steel, but those fancying an each way punt might be tempted by Peaked too Soon.

A courtesy coach departs from Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes before the first race and returns 30 minutes after the last.
