A certain Somerset postcode has been named one of the coolest places to move to in the UK, according to The Times list 2022.

Categorised as “for the cool country set”, the newspaper announced the TA13 postcode – otherwise known as South Petherton – among the trendiest places to be in the country.

The report said: “Bruton has boiled over and the more stylish members of the posh-welly brigade have migrated half an hour down the road to South Petherton.” Also mentioning its tiny population of around 4,500 residents.

Recommending how to spend an evening in the area they suggest “feasting in one of Frogmary Green Farm’s wildflower meadows” or a booking a table at Holm, describing it as “the village’s new restaurant and the first rural outpost from the chef behind the critically acclaimed south London hotspot Levan.”

For those staying in they suggest popping along to pick up some local organic goodies at the Trading Post Farm Shop, which is, according to the paper, “more Fortnum’s than farm shop”.

The Newt, Bruton

If wellies, wildflower meadows and farm shops are all a bit too rural, newcomers are reassured the “fashion crowd’s favourite escape pod” the Newt is only 25 minutes down the road in Bruton.

Although quite frankly, if you’re concerned about things being “too rural” South Somerset is probably not the place for you.

Spend the night in South Petherton

For those tempted to make the move but wanting to sample the rural life before taking the plunge, The Times say: “Limber up for a new life in the country with a night in one of Frogmary’s shepherd’s huts.”
