A CRITICALLY acclaimed creator is bringing his shows WOLF and BOAR to Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre in February.

In WOLF, actor Lewis Doherty is armed only with a chair as he mimes every prop, makes every sound effect, and brings to life over 30 characters in an award-winning production.

The description of WOLF on the theatre's website says: "Welcome to Shadow City, a hellhole of a city, but a city nonetheless.

"Detective Jay Walker is dead.

"With no leads and a case colder than ice, it's up to his ex-partner Patrick Wolf to bust some heads and find out who killed him."

WOLF will be followed by BOAR on Thursday, February 10.

BOAR takes theatregoers to the Kingdom of Skadi, described as "a distant land of adventure and evil, where pillagers, pirates and barbarians do battle in a world on the brink of destruction".

Somerset County Gazette: BOAR: Doherty's second one-man show has been described as "quest of epic proportions and formidable consequences"BOAR: Doherty's second one-man show has been described as "quest of epic proportions and formidable consequences"

The theatre's website says: "With the King’s daughter captured by an evil dragon, a hero must rise and collect the biggest bounty in the land.

"Who will survive in this quest of epic proportions and formidable consequences?"

The Scotsman described Doherty's Edinburgh Fringe show as "one of the most distinctive and grippingly engaging performances" at the festival, while The Stage said his "physicality is incredible".

On Saturday, February 12, Doherty will host a workshop called Creating Cinematic Theatre to show how to push the boundaries of what’s possible on stage with just a performer.

Doherty is the creative director of Beasthouse, a production company that creates entertaining and compelling stories using only performers and the audience's imagination.

Tickets for WOLF and BOAR are now available, and they are discounted if theatregoers book for both shows, or a show and the workshop.
