QUEEN'S College Taunton student Eleana Stevenson, who is currently studying for her A’ levels in Year 13, has been selected to play in the England Under 18’s Girls Hockey Team.
Eleana has been playing hockey since she was just 6 years old so this selection is not only aa dream come true for Eleana, but also a tremendous achievement.
Eleana is currently Captain of the Girls’ First Team at Queen’s and plans to continue with hockey at university, aspiring to play at either Nottingham or Birmingham universities. Eleana is quoted as saying that one of her favourite hockey moments is when she played in the Nationals with the Queen’s College team, back in February 2020.
In her bid to pass on her love of hockey to others, Eleana said, that one piece of advice she would give to any aspiring hockey players is to persevere through any setbacks, never to give up on your dreams and to keep trying to be the best you can be..
In 2017, a 13-year-old Eleana was moved up to the Queen's College first team as she impressed at a younger level.
Simon Organ, the schools director of hockey at the time said: “We can make her better in the first team.
“She has the right skills to be successful at a higher level, and she has those aspirations, so we want to help her grow to be the player she can be.”
And she has clearly done just that, developed at the school and has now got the opportunity to impress for the England U18 squad.
