IF you are looking for something different and interesting to do next month, Donald Trump and Prince Charles will be making an appearance at the Cooper Associates County Ground on March 3.
Well, that is if you count an impression of them.
Somerset County Cricket Club are hosting an evening with Rory Bremner in the County Room at the ground in Taunton.
The talented comedian and impersonator will be entertaining those present with his award-winning brand of humour while also exploring his love of cricket.
Rory Bremner told the County Gazette it will be a personal and enjoyable evening.
“I am very much looking forward to this event, as it is an evening with style event, it won’t just be me on stage for the entire evening.
“Guests will be able to ask questions and learn more about my strange life, as well as the interviewer on stage with me can pose some unique questions.
“That doesn’t mean that I wont be bringing my best impressions along too, Donald Trump may show his face, Boris Johnson definitely will too,” Bremner said.
He said that despite Trump and Boris being polarising people they do make for great characters and ones that you can run away with in an impression.
“Trump is a good tool for me to use as his level of audacity and narcissism allows for ridiculous claims.
“I could be talking about how Trump built the cricket ground in Taunton while saying he is a great cricketer and because it’s Trump, it is somehow believable.”
When asked what his favourite impressions to do were he said: “Richie Benaud was always a fun one for me to do, and he would be a fitting character to show his face at Somerset Cricket Club.
“I must say as well I enjoy doing Nelson Mandela.”
You may or may not know that Rory Bremner has a hit single, a cricket-themed song “N-N-Nineteen Not Out”, he said that it most likely will not be making an appearance.
“I am not sure about me singing any of my songs, but if the audience is ready I may just break out into song as Prince Charles.
“He is a fantastic singer, if he may say so himself.”
Now the people of Somerset all have a high opinion of the Cooper Associates County Ground but what does Rory Bremner think of it?
“I have been to the cricket ground in Taunton a few times before and it really is a special oval.
“In my mind it ranks rather highly among cricket grounds around England, I have some nice memories there, as I am sure the people of Somerset do too.”
The County Gazette had to ask Rory his thoughts on visiting Taunton in general, he told us he can’t wait.
“I truly can’t wait to come and visit Somerset and Taunton.
“Usually you would have to take a holiday to get to different places around the UK, that is why I enjoy touring my comedy, because I get to see more places.”
“In particular I love cricket grounds out-of-season, there is just something about them then that is special.”
As mentioned already, Rory Bremner is coming to the Cooper Associates County Ground on March 3, 2022.
As well as hearing and seeing Rory perform, there will be a Q&A where the audience can ask questions, and of course everyone will enjoy a three-course meal.
Tickets are available to purchase now, they are priced at £90 for the evening.
