THE A303 has re-opened in both directions on the Devon-Somerset border following a "serious accident" near Marsh and the B3170.
The road closed at 1:30pm due to the accident involving two cars, with the AA reporting on its website that motorists were experiencing "severe delays of 18 minutes" and an average speed of five miles per hour.
The closure affected vehicles heading towards Honiton, Devon, or into Somerset in the direction of Ilminster.
A live update on the Travel Somerset website from around 1:30pm said: "A303 both ways closed due to serious accident between the Marsh turn off and B3170.
"Traffic is coping well."
At around 2:50pm, another update said: "A303 both ways re-opened, serious accident cleared between the Marsh turn off and B3170.
"The road was re-opened at 2:30pm."
