This year’s Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland has been released - and some restaurants in Somerset have made the list.

The list provides all the restaurants that have received and retained a Michelin star this year.

The Michelin Guide is produced by the French tyre company Michelin, which has been going since 1904 and can award up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments.

In this year's list, there are 19 new one stars, five new two stars and one new three-starred restaurant across the country.

Osip – Bruton

Location: 1 High Street, Bruton, BA10 0AB

Cuisine: Modern British

The guide says: “The thriving market town of Bruton is the ideal setting for this beautiful restaurant – the design of which would likely be approved of by the Hauser and Wirth Gallery just down the road – and, with Merlin having already taken London by storm with Portland and Clipstone, the locals embraced his West Country venture with open arms.

“He might come across as quite reserved but here is a confident, forward-thinking chef with a great understanding of all things food-related and a strong, inimitable style. Fresh produce from the locality and his allotment feature in pure, harmonious combinations and dishes have an effortlessly assured, understated elegance. The cocktail list is equally enticing and the ciders and beers are locally sourced too.”

Oak - Bath, Somerset

Location: 2 North Parade Passage, Bath, BA1 1NX

Cuisine: Vegetarian, Vegan

The guide says: “What started out as ‘Acorn’ has now matured into ‘Oak’ – but the ethos remains the same, with tasty, original vegetarian and vegan dishes served in unpretentious bistro surroundings. Well-priced small plates are designed for sharing and 40% of the produce is from their allotment. They also offer brunch.”
