ALL schools, early years settings, colleges, and other county council services across Somerset will be closed tomorrow due to Storm Eunice.

The storm is expected to bring winds of up to 90mph to parts of the south west, leading the Met Office to issue a "danger to life" red weather warning across parts of Somerset.

The Met Office's weather warning also says there could be large waves and beach material thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and homes, and some coastal properties could be flooded.

The weather warning is in place from 7am to midday, when winds are expected to ease.

Because of the storm, Somerset County Council leaders have announced the closure of all schools, colleges, further education, and early years settings tomorrow.

All school transport will be suspended.

Education leaders have been asked to provide online education where possible.

All waste collections will also be suspended tomorrow, and all of the county council's recycling centres and libraries will be closed. 

Park and ride services will continue to run, but the council has warned users to expect some disruption.

For all other public transport, the council has advised people to keep an eye on local operators' social media accounts for updates.

The council has recommended that people avoid all travel unless it is essential. 

Normal council services are expected to resume on Saturday, February 19.
