DUNKERY Beacon Country House Hotel on Exmoor has added to its medal haul when it was awarded two silver accolades in the Bristol, Bath, and Somerset Tourism Awards.
The Hotel in Wootton Courtenay, near Dunster, has been presented with Silver in both the Small Hotel of the Year category and the Restaurant of the Year category for its Coleridge Restaurant, adding to their existing accolades of Gold and Bronze won in previous years.
John Bradley, co-partner at the hotel, said: “We’re delighted about winning these latest awards. It’s a fantastic celebration of all we’ve done since buying the hotel in 2012.
“To be recognised with Silver, against very stiff competition in both categories, is a huge achievement, and we are very proud of the great team behind us who helped make it happen.”
The awards ceremony took place virtually on Thursday, February 17, and there will be a face-to-face event to follow later in the year.
Now in its sixth year, the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Awards are run by Services for Tourism, who also run other tourism awards schemes across Southern England.
Following the ceremony, awards organiser Nell Barrington said: “Congratulations to everyone, and I truly hope that you all have a great season and have time to celebrate your success. After what has been, once again a truly challenging year for tourism and hospitality, it is great to be able to share the good news.”
John, a talented chef, has more than 30 years’ experience in catering, and has worked extensively in this country and overseas.
His wife, Jane, also has a background in hospitality and worked for top London wine merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd for over 15 years.
Jane said: “Our luxury accommodation is the perfect place for those wishing to escape the frenetic pace of day-to-day life and to unwind in a truly tranquil location with stunning scenery all around.
“We offer our guests relaxed yet sophisticated dining with a seasonally changing, à la carte menu and a focus on locally-sourced produce. We pride ourselves on providing the very best when it comes to ingredients, accommodation, and service.”
Room prices (based on double occupancy) start from £120 for the night. A luxury first-floor four-poster suite is priced from £165 per night.
