A YOUNG cyclist has died after his bike was involved in a collision with a car.

The man, who was in his 20s, died in the early hours of yesterday (Monday, January 21), five days after the tragic incident.

The fatal collision occurred on the A372 at Westonzoyland at approximately 7.45pm on Wednesday of last week (February 16).

The man sustained "significant injuries" and was taken to hospital, where he later sadly died.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time who are being supported by a family liaison officer.

"We’d like anyone who witnessed what happened, or has dashcam footage and was travelling along the A372 that evening, to call 101 and give reference number 5222039518."
