A LOCAL farmer helped out as firefighters from Taunton rescued a large horse stuck in a water-filled ditch.
Firefighters were called to the incident near Burrowbridge at around 6pm on Saturday (February 26).
A fire engine from Taunton Fire Station and a specialist animal rescue team from Bridgwater were sent out.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On arrival crews confirmed there was one horse in a water filled ditch and started setting up water rescue equipment.
"The horse was rescued using a telehandler from a local farmer and specialist animal rescue equipment.
"The horse was assessed by a vet on the scene."
