ON Sunday February 27, Somerset County Netball Association (SCNA) held a successful Bee Netball festival at Strode College.
This was the first time ever this event had been staged.
Despite COVID hitting sports hard during the last 2 years, 40 girls and boys, aged 7-11, across Somerset came together to participate in various skills such as passing, teamwork and match play.
All the players, whether part of a netball club or not came together to participate, make new friends and enjoy netball.
Somerset junior lead, Hollie Wright said: "This is the first season we have run any netball activity for this age group and I am glad it was such a success!
"All the players seemed to enjoy the differing skills on offer and finished with some great match play to tie it all together.
"We hope that this may be start start of a regular event for Somerset Netball. A huge thank you to our Somerset coaches and volunteers who made this event happen."
SCNA would also like to thank Battens Charitable Trust who donated funds to allow SCNA to purchase Bee Netball water bottles for each of the players.
Bee Netball is for children aged 5 - 11 years old and offers the perfect way to get your child out on the court.
Bee Netball is a programme all about friendship, inclusion, fair play and playing together.
