BUDDING comedians took to the stage in the first round of Stand Up For Cider 2022 last Friday (February 25).
Resident MC David Arnold welcomed guests on the night, and introduced the seven acts to the stage.
Participants included: Cris Sutera-Stoffs, Suzanne Carey, Greg Curzon, Bart Pirie, Ben Treoar, Matt Roseblade and Sam Curtis.
Organiser, Trish Caller, said: "Every act was different in the performance style. They were also at different stages of their comedy careers. It was a real mixture.
"While the votes were counted everyone enjoyed a few more drinks…. mostly Sheppy’s Cider. Then our headline act – Tim Hoskins (performing as Marti) took to the stage. Genuinely one of my favourite acts on the circuit. Huge amounts of laughter and strained chuckle muscles ensued."
The winner of the first heat was Ben Treloar, and the runner up was Matt Roseblade.
The next heat in the Stand Up For Cider competition will be on Friday, May 20. But if you want a dose of comedy before that, there is Taunton Comedy Club on Saturday, March 26 with Laura Lexx headlining.
