AVON and Somerset Police is paying tribute to its inspirational women on International Women's Day.

Figures show:

  • 48 per cent of staff are women, including police officers, PCSOs, police staff and volunteers;
  • 56 per cent of the force's chief officers and senior leadership team are women.

Deputy Chief Constable Nikki Watson said: "We are proud of all the talented and dedicated women of all ranks and roles who work for Avon and Somerset Police and of their work in serving our communities and keeping the public safe from harm.

"Today we want to recognise their contributions and say, 'Thank you'."
