A VEHICLE has been seized by police from a motorist who is disqualified from driving until 2024.

Avon and Somerset Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) today tweeted a picture of a BMW car on the back of a tow truck in Silk Mills, Taunton

The car was seized from the disqualified driver yesterday (Monday, March 14), and the driver will appear in court for the offence.

The RPU captioned the picture with the words: "Seized after driver found to be disqualified until 2024!!

"If you're disqualified...DON'T DRIVE...simples!!!"

"Day in court awaits."

People can be banned from driving if they are convicted of a driving offence or if they get 12 or more penalty points within three years.

The length of a driving disqualification is decided by a court based on how serious they deem the offence to be.

The length of a ban can be increased if several disqualifications are handed to a driver within three years.

Drivers who are disqualified for 56 days or more must apply for a new licence before driving again.
