PEOPLE in a village street were woken by "a big bang" in the early hours after a car reportedly struck a number of parked vehicles.
Police were called to reports of three cars being hit in Petherton Road, North Newton, at around 12.30am on Sunday (March 13).
A man has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a vehicle while over the drink drive limit.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Petherton Road, near North Newton, at approximately 12.30am on Sunday 13 March following a road traffic collision, where a car was reported to have struck a number of parked vehicles.
“Officers arrested a man, in his 20s, on suspicion of being in charge of a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit for alcohol.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 and give reference number 5222059979.”
