A TEENAGER has been sentenced at Avon and Somerset Youth Court after pleading guilty to assaulting an on-duty detention officer in Yeovil.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, assaulted the officer by beating her on December 4, 2021.
The court found “that the offence was aggravated by being committed against an emergency worker acting in the exercise of functions as such”.
He initially pleaded not guilty on December 10 but changed his plea before he was sentenced.
He was ordered to pay £50 in compensation to the detention officer when he appeared at the youth court in Yeovil on Friday, March 18.
He has been discharged conditionally for 18 months, meaning he will not receive further punishment unless he commits another offence within that timeframe.
No order was made for court costs or a surcharge.
Court documents say the teenager’s “guilty plea was taken into account” when his sentence was imposed.
