A WOMAN from Yeovil has been fined and handed six penalty points after pleading guilty to using a handheld mobile device while driving.
Sharna Louise Keay, of Westfield Road, drove a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van in Lysander Road when she was "using an interactive communications device, namely a PDA" (personal digital assistant) on July 26, 2021.
Keay, 30, pleaded guilty to the offence under the single justice procedure and was sentenced by magistrates in Bath on Thursday, March 17.
She was fined £60 and ordered to pay £90 in court costs and a £34 surcharge to fund victim services.
She has until April 28 to pay her total court bill of £184.
Keay also had her driving record endorsed with six penalty points.
Court document say her guilty plea was "taken into account when imposing sentence".
