A WELLINGTON couple have celebrated an incredible 72 years of marriage.
Bill and Jean Carr marked their wedding anniversary at Camelot House and Lodge, on Taunton Road.
Their son Mark accompanied Jean to the dementia care home where Bill is now a resident to celebrate the anniversary.
Bill and Jean Carr were married on March 18, 1950, at St James Church, in Handsworth, Birmingham, near where they both grew up.
They relocated to the South West after their wedding.
The inseparable pair worked together for many years, including running their own double glazing business, West End Windows, in Bristol in the 1970s.
They also spent six years in Canada before returning to live in Somerset.
Jean said: “We have never been apart for our anniversary and this was a very special occasion.
“Bill isn’t a great talker now, although he was very chatty before his dementia, but we all had a lovely time reminiscing about old Birmingham with Richard on the activities team, who was also brought up there.
“And we thoroughly enjoyed the takeaway KFC the team laid on for us.
"Bill calls it ‘chicken in a bun' and it’s his absolute favourite.”
Camelot House and Lodge is run by award-winning care-providers Camelot Care, who also have care homes in Bridgwater and Plymouth.
