THE funeral has taken place of a Berrow man who was killed in Thailand.
A murder probe was launched after Marcus Evans, 49, was found dead in Kanchanaburi Province in the early hours of Saturday, January 22.
Mr Evans, who was visiting his girlfriend in Thailand at the time, was said to have been hacked to death with a sickle knife.
The Royal Thai Police arrested a 22-year-old man Prasut Thipthep and charged him with intentional manslaughter after he allegedly confessed to the killing.
Shaun Dagnan, 54, a friend of Mr Evans, was also injured in the incident.
At the time, Police Lieutenant General Thanayut Vuthijarathamrong, who led the enquiry into the attack, said: "From the investigation, the accused confessed that the cause of the death came from a disagreement with the deceased.
"The injured victim and the deceased were drinking alcohol and playing loud music during the night until it caused dissatisfaction with the perpetrator and leading him to attack the men."
Mr Evans's funeral took place at Sedgemoor Crematorium on Friday, March 4, with the arrangements by Highbridge funeral directors R. Millard and Son.
His ashes were later interred at Brent Road Cemetery.
The well-attended service was conducted by Minister Marian Bishop.
Among the family mourners were Mr Evans's parents Bob and Sonia Evans.
Mr Evans's sons Callum and Liam were among the pall bearers and tributes were read out on their behalf.
Donations for Help for Heroes in Mr Evans's memory may be made via the funeral directors.
*Mr Evans's family has asked us to point out that he did not live in Thailand as previously reported. We are happy to set the record straight.
