AUSTRALIAN batter Matt Renshaw’s arrival for this season has been delayed after his inclusion in the Australian ODI squad for their series in Pakistan.
Renshaw is expected to be ready for action at the Cooper Associates County Ground for the second round of LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures.
That means he is expected to make his much-anticipated second debut for Somerset against Essex in Taunton on April 14.
Regarding the situation, Somerset CCC director of cricket, Andy Hurry has said: “We have been in regular communication with Matt over the last few days and everyone at the Club fully understands and appreciates the reasons for the short delay in his arriving in the UK.
“This is a great reflection on Matt’s development and we wish him all the very best in the upcoming series.
“We are very much looking forward to seeing him wearing the Wyvern again in 2022, and having spoken to him, I can assure all of our Members and supporters that he is really excited about returning to play for the Club.”
In his first debut for Somerset in 2018, Renshaw scored 101 not out against Worcestershire.
