A COVETED Shakespeare specialist theatre group will stop off on their tour of the UK in Taunton in June.
Shakespeare’s Globe, primarily based in London, will be performing a new production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, hosted by Taunton Brewhouse on June 29 and 30.
The production is being directed by the award-winning Diane Page.
Page was announced as the winner of Orange Tree Theatre’s JMK award for 2021.
The Globe describes Diane’s work on the production as ‘bringing Shake Shakespeare’s brutal tale of ambition, incursion, and revolution to vivid life.
Taunton Brewhouse will also be hosting a rendition of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, where all the action will be performed on bicycles.
The bizarre performance will take place outdoors in Castle Gardens on June 23.
Theatre company HandleBards will be performing the Elizabethan comedy, describing themselves as ‘cycling Shakespearean actors who carry all of our set, props, and costumes on the back of our bikes’.
The group aims to incorporate bicycles into all aspects of their performances to be environmentally stable whilst also providing unique entertainment.
