TAUNTON Town Football Club recently confirmed they will host a testimonial game in honour of Peacock stalwarts Lloyd and Owen Irish.
The match which is sponsored by Cooper Associates, will be staged at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on Friday May 6, kicking off at 7.30pm.
It will feature two squads, fittingly named Lloyd Irish XI and Owen Irish XI.
Both teams will include a number of well-known local sporting celebrities whose identities will be revealed in due course.
Donations from the proceeds of the game will be made to the Josh Evans Trust Fund, Cooper Associates Foundation, and North Petherton Cricket Club.
Admission to the game being via a minimum donation of £5 which can either be paid on the gate or via a Crowdfunder, details of which will be announced shortly.
Owen and Lloyd made their Peacock debuts in the same game back in 2008 and have both represented the club with distinction during their long careers.
Both of whom became firm favourites with the Town supporters.
Owen made a total of 299 full and 11 substitute appearances between 2008 and 2020, whilst also scoring 35 goals while Lloyd has amassed 376 full and 1 sub appearances up until this season, not forgetting his one memorable goal in 2015.
The club have said: "The testimonial is therefore a richly deserved reward for the pair following such long service to the club and we hope as many Peacock fans plus all local football supporters will attend what will be a very enjoyable evening."
