MOTORISTS travelling northbound on the M5 are experiencing "long delays" between Wellington and Weston-super-Mare due to Bank Holiday weekend traffic.

Travel Somerset, a county council service that provides information about roads across the county, is reporting slow-moving traffic on the motorway.

According to the service, there are "long delays and stop-start traffic due to holiday traffic on M5 northbound between J26 A38 (Wellington) and J21 A370 (Weston-Super-Mare)."

The update added: "Travel time is 60 minutes."

The AA's traffic news service says traffic is currently moving at an average speed of 30mph between Taunton Deane Services and junction 25 (Taunton).

The service has also reported "queueing traffic" heading eastbound on the A303 between the Podimore Roundabout and the Hazelgrove Roundabout near Sparkford.

There was an earlier report of "slow traffic" on A303 eastbound between the Southfields Roundabout near Ilminster and the Hayes End Roundabout in South Petherton.

Traffic there has now "returned to normal".

Avon and Somerset Police have asked motorists to avoid the A366 Farleigh Road following a "serious collision" involving a motorbike and a tractor.

Elsewhere, the A37 is "partially blocked" near Gurney Slade, Mendip, "due to (an) accident near the Mendip Inn".
