Japanese knotweed is a highly invasive perennial weed that can cause severe damage to both residential and commercial property, the Environet website says.
Research indicates that approximately 5 per cent of homes in the UK are affected by Japanese Knotweed, the website also says.
Japanese Knotweed can damage properties and also devalue them.

The map below from the same website shows the biggest hotspot in and around Taunton.
In Taunton and Kingston St Mary, there are seven occurrences within four Km.
Other areas, like Wiveliscombe and Wellington, have one occurrence within four Km.
