Taunton School has been shortlisted for the Boarding School of the Year award at this year’s Tes Awards.
The school recently invested £350,000 into its boarding facilities, which led to recognition for the award.
As well as this, Taunton School says it has emphasised the importance of students’ and staff’s mental health, implementing mindfulness sessions for all, and training all staff in mental health first aid.
The nomination isn’t the only recent success experienced at the school.
Taunton school has also been named as a finalist for other distinctive awards, including Muddy Stiletto’s ‘Originality in Teaching Music and the Arts’, and Study Travel’s Best European School.
To top it all off, the school’s Chief Operating Officer, Nikki Miller, has been named as a finalist in the Best School Business Leader category, also at the Tes Awards.
She said: “I am honoured to be nominated for this award and to represent the dedicated support team at Taunton School.”
Headteacher at Taunton School, Lee Glaser, expressed his delight to be nominated for the awards.
He said: “Taunton School is a ‘home from home’ for children from over 40 different countries, and we are incredibly proud to offer an outstanding learning and boarding experience for our students.”
The Tes awards identify ‘outstanding initiatives’ in all UK schools.
Winners for the awards will be announced on June 17.
