McDONALD'S is planning to open a new restaurant at a business park near Highbridge, the fast food chain has revealed.
The company aims to open a new outlet at Oak Tree Business Park, a new 14.6-acre site on the A38 Bristol Road located around half a mile from junction 22 of the M5.
No planned opening date has been announced, but McDonalds says around 120 jobs will be created if the new restaurant goes ahead.
A McDonald's spokesperson said: “McDonald’s is pleased to be part of these exciting plans in Highbridge.
“The scheme will deliver a range of local benefits, including a new McDonald’s restaurant creating around 120 jobs.”
The nearest existing McDonald's store is located at Sedgemoor Services on the M5.
There are also Golden Arches restaurants across Somerset in towns including Bridgwater, Taunton, Street, and Weston-super-Mare.
McDonald's currently has around 1,300 restaurants in the UK, of which approximately 1,100 are franchised.
The company has over 36,000 restaurants worldwide and operates in over 100 countries and territories.
Developer KMW Trading Limited started construction work at Oak Tree Business Park in March 2020.
Property consultants Alder King says the business park will provide “roadside and employment land opportunities”.
The business park site is near the town's Aldi supermarket, Travelodge hotel, and Isleport Business Park.
