THE stage is set for Nunney International Horse Trials on June 17 to 19 when some of the sport of eventing’s most famous names will be in action and spectators will be welcomed back to the event for the first time since 2019.

Strong entries have been received and more than 700 horse and rider combinations will in action over the three days.

The action takes place in the setting of Southfield House near Frome and it looks set to be three un-missable days with an eclectic range of tradestands and local food outlets an added draw.

Organiser Bridget Parker, who won team gold at the Summer Olympics in Munich in 1972 riding Cornish Gold, a feat described by Time magazine as one of the 30 greatest sporting achievements of all time, said: “Nunney has evolved into a wonderful event that is a firm favourite among competitors and spectators. We’re delighted with our entries, and excited to be welcoming back spectators too.”

Hopkins Estates managing director Bill Hopkins said: “Nunney International Horse Trials is a beautifully run event with a high calibre of competitors and Hopkins is proud to give continued support this year as a main sponsor.”

Commenting on Nunney, Bellevue Equine’s David Francis, an FEI vet at international events, said: “I am very lucky to go to work doing what I love and sponsoring at Nunney allows me to support a sport that I get a real buzz out of. This is a great opportunity for Bellevue Veterinary Clinic, which is about the care of the horse 24/7, and it's nice to give something back.”

Entry is FREE on Friday, and £12 per car on Saturday and Sunday, with tickets available on the day.
