THE northbound carriageway of the M5 will be closed tonight between junction 24 (Bridgwater south) and junction 23 (Bridgwater north) for roadworks.
National Highways has confirmed the road will shut at 8pm tonight (June 14) and re-open at 6am tomorrow.
There will be a diversion in place via the A38, which will take motorists through Bridgwater on Taunton Road and Bristol Road before re-entering the M5 from the Dunball Interchange.
The National Highways daily road closure report said there will be an “M5 northbound Jct 24 - 23 carriageway closure for resurfacing. Diversion via A38”.
The same stretch of the M5 will be closed between 8pm on Wednesday, June 15 and 6am on Thursday, June 16 while the resurfacing work is completed.
The work began last night, closing the road for 10 hours.
Elsewhere, there will be an A303 closure heading westbound between Ilchester and Cartgate (South Somerset).
The road will be closed for resurfacing work between 8pm and 6am.
There will be a diversion route in place via th3 A37, A30, and A3088.
This closure will also be in place overnight on Wednesday/Thursday and Thursday/Friday.
