WORK has started on an upgrade of a play area in Bridgwater.
During the project to rejuvenate the facility in Chamberlin Avenue, in Sydenham, it will be out of use.
The scheme is costing £40,000, paid in return for the redevelopment of an adjacent garage plot and a small section of the play area, where affordable housing is being constructed.
A Sedgemoor District Council spokesperson said: "Works have just started on rejuvenate a play area at Chamberlin Avenue in Sydenham, so that means that the play area is currently out of use.
"An adjacent garage area and a very small section of the play area is to be redeveloped for affordable housing.
"In return, £40,000 is being spent to upgrade the play facilities.
"The old equipment has been taken away, and it is hoped that the new play area will be ready in about four weeks’ time."
