A MAN from Yeovil has been fined after assaulting an on-duty police constable in Swindon, Wiltshire.
Dakota Brian David Long, of Sherwell Close, assaulted the emergency service worker by beating him on February 15, 2022.
The 20-year-old indicated a plea of guilty at Swindon Magistrates' Court on May 25.
Long appeared at the court by live link on Monday, July 4 to be sentenced.
A community order was made requiring him to “have mental health treatment by or under the direction of probation for 12 sessions”.
He must also comply with the instructions of a responsible officer to attend appointments and participate in activities for up to 25 days.
Long was ordered to pay £200 in compensation to the police constable, which must be paid by August 1.
No orders were made for a victim surcharge or court costs.
Long received no seperate penalty for damaging a double-glazed window valued at under £5,000 belonging to YMCA in Yeovil on May 24.
His guilty plea was considered when he was sentenced.
