The Exmoor Young Chef of the Year competition took place at West Somerset Community College on Saturday, July 4.
The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Minehead, in conjunction with Butlins and Exmoor National Park.
Seven young hopefuls came together from across Exmoor to take part in the competition. The event was aimed at encouraging young people aged thirteen to seventeen to take up hospitality as a career in Somerset.
The rules required the seven finalists to prepare and present a three-course meal using local Exmoor produce in just two hours.
Porlock Weir head chef Miguel Teneiro and Visit Exmoor hospitality expert, Max Lawrence judged the competition. They both agreed the standard was very high and they had great difficulty selecting a winner.
The competition’s runner-up was Nathan Reardon, 15, from Cullompton.
The winner was Perran Clark,15, from Braunton.
