THERE'S a feast of entertainment in Taunton this weekend with Taunton Independent Market and Sound of the Street music festival on the menu.

Organisers of the two events are co-ordinating their efforts and sharing Castle Green.

The fun kicks off on Friday (July 8), with the start of the three-day music extravaganza, which also takes in Goodland Gardens, along with strolling musicians in the high street.

Some of the UK’s biggest names in street music are taking part, including Riot Jazz, Young Pilgrims, Kinetika Bloco and many more in "three glorious days of music and celebration".

As well as performances from a fantastic mixture of professional street bands, there will also be some brilliant local groups, from samba to town bands, as well as ancient horns, community street bands from around the UK and local schools' groups.

The market is taking place on Castle Green and extending out to Hammet Street on Saturday and Sunday (July 9 and 10).

Organiser Michelle Beck said: "We have over 50 stalls each day, with lots of new stalls including Argentinian street food, Baklava, Kombacha and a tuk tuk selling smoothies.

"There will be a cocktail bar on both days."
