WELLINGTON St John Ambulance hosted the initial meeting of community groups and charities to discuss the proposed staging of a day to promote the work such organisations carry out in the community at an event to be held during July.
The meeting gave an opportunity to discuss a framework for the event covering topics such as entry charges displays in the main area and types and range of stalls to attract in the public.
The intention is for all groups in the Wellington area to be able to have a stall at the event where they can explain the range of work they do and possibly recruit volunteers and donations to their cause.
Those who wish will be allowed an opportunity to give a display in the central arena though all groups will at sometime alongside their own stalls publicity handouts be mentioned over the PA system.
The date for the next meeting will be March 9 at 2.30pm, again at St. John HQ tel. 661444.Anyone wishing to attend who was not able to make the initial meeting is asked to phone for further details of the part they could play at the event.
