ENTRIES are now open for the popular Taunton 10k road race.

The run hits the streets of the county town on Sunday, September 25.

Hundreds of runners are expected to take part in the event, which starts and finishes at Blackbrook Leisure Centre.

The rural route takes runners around Holway and out to Stoke St Mary returning through Hadyn.

Runners can sign up for the race online at www.taunton10k.co.uk.

This will be the 35th annual 10k race organised by Taunton Carnival Committee.

Chairman Marilyn House said: “Once again we’re pleased to be working with our long-term partners Somerset West and Taunton Council and Everyone Active.

"We’re grateful to them for providing the facilities at Blackbrook Leisure Centre and supporting us around the route."

Race director John Lewis said: "Our event plan is well established, so runners know the standards we’ve set and work hard to maintain.

"A great number of our runners are regulars and have taken part for several years.

"We enjoy fantastic support from the local clubs.

"The 10k (6.2 miles) is a comfortable distance for a lot of people and we do see many who run with us as their only ‘competitive’ event.”

Entries close on 20 September and numbers will be given out on the day.
