A NATIONAL tour of one of Shakespeare's best-known tragedies will visit Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre in November – but with a tipsy twist.
Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare Presents: Macbeth will be performed at venues across the country between September and November.
One member of its rotating cast will be inebriated in each show.
They will be given four hours to consume as much alcohol as they can get their hands on before they take to the stage.
Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare aims to introduce a new generation of theatre-goers to the Bard's works of Elizabethan theatre with its modern addition.
A show spokesperson said: “Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most famous works and arguably, the greatest play ever written.
“It’s a dramatic epic about greed, ambition and the heights and depths of the human condition.
“Now, imagine it being performed by a rotating cast, one of who is completely inebriated.
“That is the very essence of Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare as they prepare to the take their unique interpretation of Macbeth on a national tour this autumn.”
The show has been described as a “side-splitting combination of a faithful adaptation of this Shakespearean classic, complete with one worse-for-wear cast member”.
The spokesperson added: “This is Shakespearean theatre as you’ve never experienced it before. What could possibly go wrong?”
Reviewers have described the show as a “great night out”, a “hoot to watch”, and “theatre for people who hate theatre”.
The show will visit Yeovil's Octagon Theatre on September 29 and Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre on November 19.
Tickets for the Taunton show will cost between £21 and £24.50, and the age guidance says it would suit theatre-goers aged 16 and over.
