TAUNTON Deane MP Rebecca Pow has personally praised emergency workers in the constituency.
Ms Pow met local representatives from the NHS, Avon and Somerset Police, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance ahead of 999 Day on Friday (September 9).
She said: "It is absolutely fitting that we pay tribute to these very special people who put their lives on the line for all of us on a daily basis across Taunton Deane and heartfelt thanks go to those in our emergency services including the many volunteers who support them.
"My family and I have had personal experience of the valued services provided.
"We should never take this for granted. Indeed, the recent wild fires at North Curry have brought into sharp focus some of the challenges that can be faced.
"Our firefighters shared their experiences of this with me at the event.
"We owe each and every one involved in our emergency services a great debt of gratitude for all they do and a huge thank you."
