UPDATE: The A37 has re-opened in both directions following today's collision, police have confirmed.
A SOMERSET road is closed following an collision between a lorry and a motorcyclist that police say has resulted in a serious injury.
The emergency services are at the scene on the A37 at Pensford, which is around seven miles south of Bristol and eight miles west of Bath.
The road is shut in both directions. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes on their journeys.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Officers are dealing with a serious injury collision involving a lorry and a motorcyclist on the A37 at Pensford.
”The road is closed in both directions while emergency services are at the scene.
”Please avoid the area if possible and use alternative routes.”
The police confirmed the incident on Twitter at around 11.50am today (Sunday, October 16).
The AA's traffic news service is reporting “slow traffic” in the area following the incident, which it says has taken place near Pensford Old Road.
