TWO people have been taken to hospital after they were extracted from an overturned vehicle by firefighters on the A372 near the Podimore Roundabout.
Fire crews from Yeovil, Martock and Somerton were called to the scene by police officers at around 11.24pm last night (Friday, November 25).
Firefighters removed one of the car's doors using hydraulic cutting equipment to allow paramedics to access the two people trapped inside the car after it ended up on its roof.
A spokesperson for the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said: "Fire control received a call from police requesting our attendance at a road traffic collision on the A372 near the Podimore Roundabout where two people were trapped within a vehicle.
"Control mobilised two fire appliances from Somerton and Martock, a heavy rescue vehicle and a support pump from Yeovil, along with a supporting officer.
"Once on scene, crews confirmed there had been a one-vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) resulting in the car being on its roof with two people trapped.
"Crews were at work stabilising the vehicle and gaining entry by removing side door to vehicle to allow on-scene paramedics to access the trapped casualties.
"Crews confirmed that two casualties have been extricated from the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment."
The incident report says the two casualties were taken to hospital by paramedics.
