ON a day that sported the theme of red trousers, a TV antiques expert arrived at a recently opened business in Taunton.

Antiques Road Trip presenter David Harper wearing his trademark red trousers was welcomed at Antiques on High, in Silver Street yesterday (Monday, December 5).

And to make him feel at home, the business owner Vincent Page donned a pair of similar coloured trousers and, accompanied by his wife Lesley White, welcome the star.

Mr Page said: "David soon settled in, almost overwhelmed by the size of the place and the vast array of stock on offer.

"Fascinated by the history surrounding the building and its long association with the antiques trade, he spent several hours talking and filming with Vincent and various antique dealers, many of whom have been resident in the Monday market since its inception in 1978."

Having already filmed a variety of video’s earlier this year in the popular Antiques on High Store in Bowness, on Windermere, the response to the videos has been extremely encouraging.

The resulting video of his visit to Taunton will be posted on the company’s social media sites as well as David Harper's own youtube.com/@davidharper2020.

Mr Page added: "The rather tired building is now the subject of a major revamp in general and is taking shape rapidly as Lesley and I stamp our Antiques on High mark on the business.

"Various pitches in the market have already been the subject of a redecoration and have been brought up-to-date as the entire front section of the building will become a fully carpeted shop shortly after Christmas with a partition wall being built which will open up on a Monday for the market.

"The shop currently opens Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with parking available, and the market and shop open on Monday."
