WELLS Post Office has found a permanent home after relocating several times in the last couple of years.
The Post Office has confirmed that the service is moving to the Spar store in Tucker Street. It will open on Thursday, January 26.
The service previously had a permanent home at Market Place, before it moved into the Natural Pets of Wells store in Queen Street in September 2021.
When the postmaster retired, the Post Office relocated to Wells Bus Station as a “temporary solution”.
That site was run by the postmaster for Glastonbury while applicants were sought to set up a long-term Post Office in the city.
The temporary branch operated alongside an existing Post Office on St Thomas Street, which was unaffected by the changes.
The Post Office has now confirmed the new location and thanked community members for their patience while it was based at the bus station.
A spokesperson said: “We are delighted to confirm that Wells Post Office will re-open at a new permanent location, Spar Wells, 19-21 Tucker Street, Wells, BA5 2DZ.
“This will be a main style branch and is scheduled to open on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
“The Post Office’s opening hours will be 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
“We want to thank the local community for their patience whilst the Post Office has operated on a temporary basis.”
