YEOVIL Town have announced the “reinvigoration” of women's football with the launch of a new set-up that will be fully integrated into the club.

The club are aiming to offer football to women and girls of all ages, abilities and ambitions.

Yeovil Town Women's Football Club are in talks with the Somerset FA to determine the league they will compete in.

The Huish Park outfit previously had a women's team that competed in the Super League, the highest level of domestic women's football in England.

The club was rescued from financial collapse by Adam Murry in 2019 and merged with Bridgwater Town under a new name, Bridgwater United.

Now, Yeovil Town say they are “recognising the illustrious past successes of women’s football” and “acknowledging the events that led to its demise” with its new set-up.

The club has a long-term aim of hosting all women's fixtures at Huish Park but will start by hosting select fixtures at the stadium.

Four board members have been appointed: Stuart Robins (Yeovil Town shareholder), Martyn Starnes (club CEO), Ian Maskell (head girls' coach, South Somerset Regional Talent Centre) and Jamie Philip (former coach at Yeovil Town Women).

A club spokesperson said: “Our ethos for YTWFC is to establish a positive, ambitious and progressive women's football club with a community-based mantra.

“We are setting out, with your support, to establish a girls’ and women’s footballing community that offers what the community needs.

“YTWFC recognise that we are setting ourselves very ambitious aspirations and to achieve this we are looking to you and the local community to help!”

The club are looking for players, coaches and volunteers to join the new set-up. They are also seeking business sponsorships.
