A TAUNTON burger joint will compete in the live final of this year's National Burger Awards in London.
Eat the Bird will travel down the M4 to Islington Electrowerkz with the aim of bringing home the top prize on Wednesday, February 22.
One of its burgers, the Dirty Ronald, has been named among 16 finalists from restaurants and takeaways located across the UK.
The Dirty Ronald is a double Devon beef patty burger with cheese, beef fat buttered onions, homemade dill pickles, ketchup and mustard.
Its creators describe it as “no normal fast food double cheeseburger – this is a dripping beef juices down your arm and painting your face with sauce kind of affair”.
In October, Eat the Bird scooped two awards at the Wing Fest UK awards in Manchester in the Buffalo and Wild Wing categories.
The restaurant also made its television debut last year on Britain's Top Takeaways, a BBC Two series hosted by Sara Cox and Darren Harriott.
Since it launched in Taunton in 2017, the business has expanded and now has sites in Exeter (Sidwell Street) and Cardiff (St Mary's Street).
Founder Dan Aldridge said: “Six years after rising out of the Devon streetfood scene, we now have three permanent sites, a whole host of awards, TV appearances and we’re now a finalist at the National Burger awards.
“It’s an incredible journey, one which wouldn’t be possible without my outrageous team and their devotion day in and day out to burger perfection.
“But the biggest shout out goes to each and every one of you who decides to spend your well-earned money with us.
“We know times are tough right now, and we owe it to you to be the best that we can be every single time.
“Hopefully, we can do you all proud in February at the awards and bring the top prize home.”
Eat the Bird previously reached the National Burger Awards final in 2020.
